BISMARCK, N.D. — The North Dakota National Guard along with the North Dakota Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) board recently announced a partial training waiver for U.S. Air Force trained Security Forces personnel who want to become North Dakota law enforcement officers.

Brig. Gen. Leo Ryan, commander of the Army component of the North Dakota National Guard, will host a change of responsibility ceremony for the State Command Sergeant Major. Command Sgt. Maj. Derek J. Heck will assume the duties of the senior enlisted Soldier for the N.D. Army Guard from Command Sgt. Major. David Lien during a ceremony on Dec. 7 at 1 p.m. at the Raymond J. Bohn armory in Bismarck.

 

The public and media are invited to the ceremony.

Col. Joseph Wyatt was recently promoted to the rank of colonel and assumed the command of the 119th Medical Group in Fargo. Wyatt has served with the N.D. Air National Guard’s 119th Wing since 2016.

Maj. Gen. Al Dohrmann, adjutant general for the North Dakota National Guard, announced today that N.D. Army National Guard aviators are traveling to Arizona in order to support the Department of Homeland Security and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) border security mission with aviation assets.

Radioman 2nd Class Floyd A. Wells, a World War II-era Sailor originally from Cavalier, N.D., will be interred at the N.D. Veterans Cemetery on Tuesday, Oct. 1. Wells will receive full military honors during a formal ceremony which will begin at 1 p.m.

The Soldiers of the Fargo-based 141st Maneuver Enhancement Brigade (141st MEB) will host a change of command ceremony at 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 22.

Teresa Luthi McDonough was recently promoted to colonel at the Air National Guard base in Fargo where she has served since 1989. As a member of the Happy Hooligans, she commands the 119th Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Group (ISRG) within the 119th Wing.

Brig. Gen. Jackie Huber has been named the next deputy adjutant general for the North Dakota National Guard. She succeeds Brig. Gen. Robert Becklund who is retiring on Oct. 1.
