Seventeen Army National Guard soldiers from across the state pushed through physical and mental challenges to try to outscore their fellow competitors during this year’s Best Warrior Competition (BWC) Aug. 15-18 at Camp Grafton Training Center, near Devils Lake. Each Soldier was tested on various warrior tasks over the competition’s four days.

Recently, about twenty-five Soldiers of the North Dakota National Guard's Wahpeton-based 188th Engineer Company (VERTICAL) assisted the Minot YMCA by improving the grounds of the Triangle YMCA camp near Garrison. The area is owned by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and is leased to the YMCA.

Members of the North Dakota National Guard marksmanship teams excelled for the eighth consecutive year at the recent Marksmanship Advisory Council Region VI (MAC VI) championship at Camp Guernsey Joint Training Center, Wyo., July 26 to July 28. The key elements of this competition are designed to improve battle-focused marksmanship and validate sharpshooter skills essential to individual readiness.

Members of the North Dakota National Guard’s Fargo-based 188th Army Band will perform during the 25th Annual Jass Festival on Sunday, August 11, at the El Zagal Shrine in Fargo. The festival is scheduled for 12:00 noon until 5:00 p.m. and the Army Band’s Jazz Ensemble performance is scheduled for approximately 12:50p.m.

DEVILS LAKE, N.D.The North Dakota National Guard’s Camp Grafton Training Center invites community members to participate in an open house at their south-range location, on Saturday, August 10. The public is invited to visit between the hours of 11:00 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Camp Grafton south area includes maneuver training areas, weapon and demolition ranges.

The 119th Civil Engineer Squadron (CES), of the 119th Wing, was presented the Colonel William L. Deneke Outstanding Civil Engineer Unit Award for excellence, at the North Dakota Air National Guard base Saturday June 8, 2019.

The North Dakota National Guard is partnering with U.S. Northern Command (USNORTHCOM) and several other agencies, including the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) to test a long range radar at Camp Grafton Training Center (CGTC).  The radar, known as the Arctic “Over-the-Horizon Radar” (OTHR), will be constructed at CGTC which is near Devils Lake and CGTC South in Eddy County.

The North Dakota National Guard along with the North Dakota Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Board recently announced a partial training waiver for U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps-trained military police personnel who want to become North Dakota law enforcement officers.
